Turrialba is a haven for adventurous travelers! If you want activities and adrenalin in a green and stunning scenery this is the experience for you.
On our 2 day/1 night itinerary we do a full day of white-water rafting on the beautiful Pacuare River followed by an authentic Farm-to-Table experience at Nortico Cacao Farm.
This tour is best suited for adventurous travelers who will appreciate the fun of rafting down the Pacuare river (minimum age 12 years). If you want to bring smaller children we can offer the same itinerary but on the Pejivalle River (minimum age 6 years).
Río Pacuare is a wild and scenic river for rafting and river kayaking and is ranked as one of the world’s top ten river trips. The rainforest that surrounds the river is home to a few thousand Cabécar, and the forest has a rich bird- and wildlife. You will enjoy an incredible rafting on class II-IV rapids. A hearty lunch is served by the river bank along the way and you will spend the day on the river, passing several waterfalls and raft through narrow canyons.
After the river trip you will be picked up by a private transfer and enjoy a scenic mountain drive to the town of Turrialba where you will be staying at a family-owned mountain lodge.
You will arrive at the lodge in the afternoon. The lodge has a beautiful open-air restaurant with spectacular views of the valley of Turrialba.
Local breakfast and coffee while enjoying a spectacular view of the valley of Turrialba. After breakfast you check-out from your accommodation and continue to Nortico Cacao Farm, a 10 minute drive from the lodge.
At the farm we will take you on a journey to discover the mystical story behind Theobroma Cacao, “Food of the Gods”, and how it has been explored and modified through time to get the characteristic taste of chocolate as we know it today.
The tour ends with a fun and interactive workshop where you participate in transforming fresh roasted cacao beans into your own personal chocolate treats!
You will have lunch at the farm and are free to stay and enjoy the farm, the view and the fresh air before you start on your return home or continue onwards with your travels in Costa Rica.
